New to being a dog owner or just need a little help with your new puppy?  Let us help start your lives together with some positively reinforced learning for your pup and a bit of family training.  This class covers all of the same material as offered in our in-home classes, but in a group setting.

Puppy School II only available to graduates of Puppy School I.

Puppy School II is designed to further your pup's obedience and loose leash skills.  Taking Puppy School I & II provides the same training and skills that Obedience I & Loose Leash I provide along with the additional puppy development items.

Class designed to assist owner and pup in passing the Canine Good Citizen Test.  Attendance does not guarantee passing.  Class focus is on the ten test items, obedience commands and management skills to pass each one.

Testing Criteria:

1. Accepting a friendly stranger
2. Sitting politely for petting
3. Appearance and grooming
4. Out for a walk
5. Walking through a crowd
6. Sit and down on cue/Staying in place
7. Coming when called
8. Reaction to another dog
9. Reaction to distractions

Community Canine Good Citizen class available to any pup that has passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.

AKC Community Canine Good Citizen Test is included with this class.

Class designed to assist owner and pup in passing the Community Canine Good Citizen Test.  Attendance does not guarantee passing.  Class focus is on the ten test items, obedience commands and management skills to pass each one.

Testing Criteria:

1. Dog stands, sits, or lies down and waits while owner completes task.
2. Dog walks on a loose leash in a natural situation and does not pull
3. Dog walks on a loose leash through a crowd
4. Dog walks past distraction and does not pull
5. Sit-Stay in a small group (two other people with dogs, total of 3 people, 3 dogs in group)
6. Dog allows a person who is carrying something to approach and pet.
7. Leave it - Dog walks by food and follows instructions to 'Leave It'.
8. Down or sit Stay - Distance
9. Recall with distractions present
10. Dog will wait while owner enters/exits a doorway or narrow passageway.

AKC Trick Dog Novice & Intermediate levels are covered in this class.  Both Novice & Intermediate level tests are included with this class.

Class covers 20 tricks and is geared towards helping pup and handler in passing both the AKC Novice Trick Dog Test and AKC Intermediate Trick Dog Test.

No one likes a dog that pulls while walking, it's not fun for the pup, or human.  Let us help achieve a 'loose leash' or non-pulling dog while walking, without management devices and in a positive manner, so you can enjoy the outdoors again. Our focus in our Loose Leash Starter Package is to gain consistency under low levels of distraction, from a low distance and for low durations.  Our Loose Leash Starter Package utilizes Positive Reinforcement Dog Training methods.  This class covers all of the same material as offered in our in-home classes, but in a group setting.

Need help with a dog that won't listen?  These commands will help position you to manage your dog in day to day situations.  Basic Obedience will also help open the communication channel between you and your pup by establishing some basic common language and understanding.  Our focus in our starter package is to gain consistency under low levels of distraction, from a low distance and for low durations.  Our Obedience Starter Package utilizes Positive Reinforcement Dog Training methods.  This class covers all of the same material as offered in our in-home classes, but in a group setting.

Obedience II class available to any pup that has gone through the Puppy School II, Obedience I class or AKC Canine Good Citizen Prep Class.

This class will focus on more commands to assist handler in managing their pup.  Further your management abilities with more commands and higher levels of distraction, distance and duration.  Our Obedience II Group Class utilizes Positive Reinforcement Dog Training methods.

Class comes with:

• Dog Training and Dog Handling skills will be passed on to the family
• Confidence you're doing it right
• Knowledge on how to further your pups Obedience Training, for self study.

• Wait - Calm and polite greetings

Classes will focus on the fundamental skills and knowledge to have a successful therapy dog as well as prep for the TDI (Therapy Dogs International) therapy dog test.  

Note:  Prep classes are not required to take the TDI therapy dog test.

Note:  The TDI Therapy Dog Test is not part of this class. 

TDI Testing Criteria:

Phase I of the test:

• Wait/Stay while task is completed by handler (TDI Entry Table)
• Supervised Separation (Check-in and out of sight, time=one minute)
• Loose Leash Walking w/distractions (Getting around people)
• Group Sit/Stay
• Recall (20ft)
• Visiting with a patient

Phase II of the test:

• Reactions to unusual situations
• Leave it - Part I
• Leave it - Part II
• 'Meeting' another dog
• Wait to enter doorway w/distraction
• Reaction to children
