Dog Handler - Part Time

Our ideal candidate would rather hang out with dogs all day vs work with humans. They will love dogs and have no fear of any shape or size. Interested in learning more about how dogs learn and how to modify dog behaviors. Interest in becoming a dog trainer a plus, but not required, just a desire to learn more about dogs.

Dog Handler - Socialization Programs

$17-$21/hr
Part Time Shifts
- 7:00AM to 12:30PM
- 12:30PM to 6:00PM
Monday through Friday

Requirements:

Must love dogs, no fear of any shape or size of dog
Must have owned a dog or currently own a dog
Can lift 50lbs - ability to move kennels and training equipment around.
Can hold back even the largest of dogs, 120lbs+, while on leash.
Education - High School Diploma, or higher
Valid drivers license
Desire and ability to learn

A day of socialization at CMDT is more like a training day camp vs a day at daycare. Our trainers and dog handlers work with each dog throughout the day to maintain and improve conditioning levels of commands and behaviors. Shaping how dogs play and socialize.

Dog Handler daily routine:

Setup of kennels, pens and training equipment for the day. Cleaning if needed.
Pup intake, safely transport dogs from owner to kennel or pen.
Assist trainers in bathroom breaks, for pups.
Assist trainers during the morning with monitoring, training and managing dogs.
Cleaning as needed throughout the day.
Monitor pups during nap time and lunch.
Assist trainers in bathroom breaks, for pups.
Assist trainers during the afternoon with monitoring, training and managing dogs
Cleaning as needed throughout the day.
Transport pups from kennel or pen to owners
Clean entire facility, floors, kennels and equipment

Dog Trainer - Part Time

Dog Trainer - Socialization Programs

$24-$30/hr
Monday through Friday

Requirements:

CPDT-KA, or equivelent college degree
Working knowledge in identify canine body language, specifically dog calming signals/negative association based signals
Working knowledge in increasing and decreasing behaviors, Operant conditioning. Specifically Positive Reinforcement (adding value), experience with negative punishment (removing value) a plus.
Working knowledge in setting associations, Classical conditioning. Specifically negative to positive.
Working knowledge with Habitual learning
Excellent written skills
Good interpersonal skills
Leadership skills, or the ability to mentor dog handlers/aspiring dog trainers
Experience working with dog owners, 1-1 sessions or group sessions

Trainer daily routine:

Plan kennel/pen assignments for the day
Plan and setup training activities for the day, based on direction from the program director
Work with dog handlers for pick up - mechanics/training from owner to kennel/pen
Work with any new pup, during arrival - Setting positive associations
Work with Dog Handlers for morning bathroom breaks
- Loose Leash training & setting associtions
Assist with monitoring of pups for socialization periods
Dog training with each pup, each day
- Socialization Training
- Loose Leash training & setting associations
- Group training
- 1on1 with the pups
Work with dog handlers for pick up - mechanics/training from kennel/pen to owner
Help breakdown training equipment for the day
Fill out daily report for each pup, in our program
