Information on Socialization

Early socialization for puppies is critical for a long life of socially appropriate behaviors.  The sooner you can start socializing your pup the better equipped your pup will be later in life.

We limit to puppies under the ages of 20weeks as most puppies at this age are at similar social development stages.  It is critical that social experiences are positive early on in a puppies life, which is why each puppy is allowed to socialize at their own pace to avoid negative interactions and associations.

Benefits of Socialization:

  • Being capable of handling normal stress in their environment
  • Ability to demonstrate self-control
  • Can demonstrate self-calming capabilities
  • Can communicate effectively with other dogs (Dog Calming Language)

Lack of Socialization can lead to:

  • Inability to greet, play with, or communicate with other dogs normally
  • Inability to form satisfying relationships with other dogs or people
  • Extreme shyness or fear in what would be considered normal common social situations
  • Inability to control bite pressure or poor bite inhibition
  • 'Aggressive' behaviors
  • Inability to cope or relax in the face of mild stress
  • Separation related issues
  • Hyperactive behaviors
